self image related to empathy
The nurturing (caring) function of the brain is related to caring for oneself and others. Like the language (communication) part of the brain, the natural ability of its use is determined by the actual practice in its use. The same things applies to the nurturing function of the brain. So if you feel inadequate or low in self opinion then the caring part of your brain isn't used for yourself, so it's not in use for others. 'Empathy' appears to be lacking. But when you're completely comfortable and happy with yourself, and you love yourself, then the caring part of the brain is in use and naturally wants to apply its function to others around you. Hence a self fulfilled person (self loving) is naturally empathetic.
perfection of the universe
As the human race, we are always looking for perfection and become unhappy when things go against our expectations or hopes about our world around us. For those of us who want to grow beyond those turbulent emotions, we must realize that in order to move beyond the 'garbage' of life, we must learn to love the 'garbage' of life. Perfection comes from embracing all things. While it is easy and natural to fight against our realities and what fate has given us, it is difficult to love them. The world can be beautiful when you know how to love it. The universe is not imperfect. Imperfection is a concept of our own thoughts and consciousness.
I thought that enlightenment would involve forsaking all things, good and bad, and becoming detached from all things in the world. But things are as they are. To truly know enlightenment, isn't it to realize the nature of the world and love it?... To be one with it?
So for example, person is in relationship with another person. arbitrarily i'll use father and child. Father is inexperienced in the way that would optimally nurture the child. So father says you are doing it wrong. you do it wrong. child interprets it as 'you are bad. you are not satisfactory.' This creates a negative self image in the child. This is human nature.
But when a mind truly realizes that the universe is as it is and is perfect as it is, then instead of being disappointed at the lack of experience of the father or choices of the father, the child can be at peace that the father is as he is, which is nature. All things are perfect, because perfect doesn't fit a definition. It just exists. to realize that is to be enlightened.

Another one down
Life and obstacles. It's like a highway with rolling hills. And sometimes there is a long steady upward slant with a steady progress. Sometimes it's a fast or slow downward slope, at times expected. But the worst part of the road is when there's a mirage on the horizon, like a swimming pool and cool drink in the desert. But just when you get there, you see it was a mirage and the road goes down down faster than you expected. What the hell?

Love and requiting
I've been thinking about relationships, couples, and dating. There's this whole game of how people act for or with other people. It's seen as a stronger person or a needy person. After all stronger people are more attractive and needy is draining. I've been on both sides of the equation. And personally I don't like being in either position.
But I think that this result is a combination of two things. Part of it is amount put toward a relationship. And part of it is how one's self image especially in relation to the other person effects the outcome of a relationship.
If someone feels like there's any reason they shouldn't get another person, that insecurity will come out and be portrayed as neediness.
But there is also the level of affection or amount of importance given in someone that effects the level or satisfaction in a relationship. If one person has too much of that (more than the other person feels comfortable with) then it can drive away the other person. But if both people give the same high amount then they will likely be highly satisfied. I guess the question then becomes what creates how much affection one shows and importance one puts in another.
One is of course sex. Guys are especially famous for being willing to say anything to get into bed (girls wouldn't have to try as hard).
Another is mental intimacy. This is one given in friends and relatives. A familiarness that you share together and respect.
And sometimes that amount of umph put into a relationship is for an idea or ideal. Usually it's for a selfish reason (even if well warranted in some cases - selfish just meaning with mainly self in mind). For example:
an arranged marriage if for traditions (ideal instilled by the parents) (on the other hand it probably with hope grows into mental intimacy)
a trophy wife (or rich husband)
loneliness or not wanting to be alone (the need to have someone to love you)

cats and walks
Since I've raised my kitten, Isis, an egyptian mau, I knew my cat was smart. We had a communication and a relationship. I also taught her how to sit and how to beg (stand up on her feet) so in a sense, I suppose she retains an easily conditioned response as well to commands she wants to listen to for certain positive stimuli (treats), like a dog. She also sometimes plays fetch. I will throw a toy mouse or a hairband, and she will chase it down and bring it back with her mouth and drop it at my lap. Anyway, last night, I came to my grandma's house. She seemed to recognize it and my grandma. She got pretty quickly comfortable and even showed affection for my grandma which I haven't seen her do much to other people. But last night and tonight, I went to go outside to have a smoke and Isis (like usual) wanted to come outside with me. So I put her leash on her (chest strap kinda deal) and took her outside. I even got her to follow the direction I wanted to go. She's a bit more stubborn than a dog but not as eager and forceful. She wanted to sniff her own tracks and learn the area by scent. I could gently pull her back and she would start to come my way. But if I pulled too much she would lay down in protest. But I was able to lead her around with the leash. I imagined it's bit like training a tiger minus the threat of being mauled to death. I think cats respond better to respect and positive stimuli than fear or being harshly yelled at, like dogs sometimes respond more quickly to.

Life in Korea with 3 months to go
Ok, in view of my blogs, the year has passed quickly. So many experiences, and so little motivation to write it down. I just want to have my life here and live it. I either didn't care to write down the small details (which would be interesting later) or they were too private to post them up on a site such as this. At any rate, it's already 3/4ths of the way done... I guess a whole lot hasn't happened. I've had a few friends that I've had alot or some contact with. I've spent alot of time out, with friends or alone. In the last 2 or 3 months, I've spent alot of time at home relaxing or watching tv shows from home. Almost the same as when I was in the US, except in the US, I "tivoed" them, where here I download the torrents. At least, when I woke up there, I felt stressed and didn't like going to work where here I'm happy to live where I am. I love the food, I feel a bit of pleasure when I look around at the people around me and the places. I enjoy interactions with store owners and anyone I meet. I feel good here. I will have to see how I feel when I get back, but at this point I feel like my chances of coming back to Korea are about 75%. I love and miss my family and friends. I love the southern California weather and surroundings. There are hot girls (and shallow fake looking ones too). And everyone speaks english which makes it so easy to get around.
But here there is interest. There are new things to learn. What can I say? I like life here. I will post some pictures up at some point. That's one thing I haven't done enough of. I haven't done any webpages or stuff like that. Oh well. At least I'm compiling some pictures on my computer so later I can put them up.

The passing of life
So I was wasting my life away watching U-Tube and I saw the life of another every day for 6 years in a five minute clip. It was probably the music which was done by someone close to the artist himself, but it was moving. It made me think it would be a good idea. I'm thinking I might even take a picture every day of myself for the rest of my life, and then play it at my funeral. At any rate it would be interesting to see how my face ages. But here is the video of the guy who recorded his face every day for six years:
Soo... Yeah.. anyway good art. maybe i will have classical music at my funeral. in a few years maybe i will post my own video up and see how it is going.. :)
